The content of the WHEAT INITIATIVE website is protected by copyright. To ensure wide dissemination of its information, the WHEAT INITIATIVE is committed to making its content freely available and encourages the use, reproduction and dissemination of the text, multimedia and data products presented. Except where otherwise indicated, content may be copied, printed and downloaded for private study, research and teaching purposes, or for use in non-commercial products or services, provided that appropriate acknowledgement of the WHEAT INITIATIVE as the source and copyright holder is given and that the WHEAT INITIATIVE’s endorsement of users’ views, products or services is not stated or implied in any way.

The use of the WHEAT INITIATIVE logo is restricted and is prohibited without prior permission. Requests for use of the WHEAT INITIATIVE logo for any reason whatsoever, whether or not in association with other logos, must be addressed to web-communications@wheatinitiative.org. If permission for use of the WHEAT INITIATIVE logo is granted, instructions for its placement and display, including related disclaimers, must be strictly adhered to.


The WHEAT INITIATIVE encourages users to establish hyperlinks to the WHEAT INITIATIVE website. Prior permission is not required, under the following conditions:

Hyperlinks to the WHEAT INITIATIVE website must not:

  • Infringe the WHEAT INITIATIVE’s rights, including its logo, name or acronym and intellectual property rights;

Users specifically acknowledge that the WHEAT INITIATIVE is not liable for the conduct of any other user.


The WHEAT INITIATIVE’s Privacy Policy covers the collection and sharing of visitors’ information on all sites within the WHEAT INITIATIVE website.


In general, users may browse the WHEAT INITIATIVE website without revealing any personal information. The only information gathered during general browsing is from standard server logs. This includes user's IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type and operating system. It also includes the files downloaded, pages visited and the dates and times of those visits. Such information is used internally for the purpose of website traffic analysis only.


To register for a newsletter, log on to a specific WHEAT INITIATIVE website page requiring registration, request information, provide feedback, join a discussion group or join an electronic mailing list, users will be asked to provide basic personal information such as name, postal address and email address. This information is collected only with the user’s knowledge and permission, and it is kept in the WHEAT INITIATIVE databases and mailing lists directly related to the services provided. Personal information will be retained by the WHEAT INITIATIVE until it exists.

In compliance with the provisions in Act n° 78-17 of January 1978 (modified) on Data processing, Data files and Individual Liberties (http://www.cnil.fr/fileadmin/documents/en/Act78-17VA.pdf), users have the right of access, rectification, modification and suppression involving data which concern them. They can exercise this right by writing to web-communications@wheatinitiative.org .

Parts of the WHEAT INITIATIVE website with specific requirements to collect personal information may publish additional privacy terms specific to that site.

Some parts of the WHEAT INITIATIVE website registration processes use cookies. Cookies gather information about the users’ navigation on the site. Use of these cookies aims at analysing site frequentation and audience in order to improve the site’s quality. Browsers can be configured by users to warn about cookies and allow them to refuse their use.


For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, the WHEAT INITIATIVE computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorised attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Any information provided to the WHEAT INITIATIVE by users is held with the utmost care and security, and is not used in any manner other than that set forth in this Privacy Policy, or in any additional site-specific policies, without users’ explicit consent.

All WHEAT INITIATIVE employees who have access to or are associated with the processing of personal data are obliged to respect the confidentiality of official business matters, including personal data.


These terms of use and other regulations applicable to the WHEAT INITIATIVE website are governed by the WHEAT INITIATIVE Managing Institutions’ law, i.e. French law. The French courts will have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related to, a visit to the WHEAT INITIATIVE website although the WHEAT INITIATIVE retains the right to bring proceedings against breaching of these conditions in the country of residence of the offender or any other relevant country.

Notification of amendments

The WHEAT INITIATIVE reserves the right to amend this policy at its own discretion. Notifications of any significant amendment will be announced on www.wheatinitiative.org.

The user is informed of the regulations concerning marketing communication, the law of June 21, 2014 for confidence in the Digital Economy, the Data Protection Act of August 06, 2004 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR: n 2016-679).

Responsible for the collection of personal data

As responsible for the data processing it collects, the Wheat Initiative complies with the legal provisions in force. This means in particular to clarify the purpose of the data processing, to collect consent of the users, to allow transparency regarding the data processing, personal data handling and maintain a truthful record of their treatment.

Whenever wheatinitiative.org processes personal data, wheatinitiative.org takes all reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of the personal data in relation to the purposes for which wheatinitiative.org processes them.

Purpose of the data collection

wheatinitiative.org may process some or all of the data:

  • to allow navigation on the Wheat Initiative website
  • to prevent and fight against computer fraud (spamming, hacking ...): Computer hardware used for navigation, IP address, password
  • to improve the navigation on the Wheat Initiative website: Connection and usage data
  • to provide access to secure online Wheat Initiative workspaces: Email address, first name, last name, phone number, address, ORCiD, personal web page url, job sector, job category, search activity, other activities
  • to carry out communication campaigns (mail): Phone number, email address

wheatinitiative.org does not sell your personal data which are therefore only used by necessity or for statistical purposes and analysis.

Right of access, rectification and opposition

In accordance with the European regulations in force, the users of wheatinitiative.org have the following rights:

  • right to access (article 15 GDPR) and rectification (article 16 GDPR), update, completeness of the data of users right of locking or erasing data of the users of a personal nature (article 17 of the GDPR), when they are inaccurate, incomplete, equivocal, out of date, or whose collection, use, communication or preservation is forbidden
  • right to withdraw consent at any time (article 13-2c GDPR)
  • right to limit the processing of user data (article 18 GDPR)
  • right to oppose the processing of user data (Article 21 GDPR)
  • right to the portability of the data that the users will have provided, when this data is the subject of automated processing based on their consent or on a contract (article 20 GDPR)
  • the right to define the fate of users' data after their death and to choose to whom wheatinitiative.org will have to communicate (or not) their data to a third party that they have previously designated

Whenever wheatinitiative.org becomes aware of the death of a user wheatinitiative.org is obliged to destroy its data, unless their retention is necessary for probative purposes or to meet a legal obligation.

If the user wishes to know how wheatinitiative.org uses his personal data, ask to rectify or oppose their treatment, the user can contact wheatinitiative.org in writing via the contact form: wheatinitiative.org/contact or via email wheat(dot)initiative(at)julius-kuehn(dot)de.

In this case, the user must indicate the personal data that he would like wheatinitiative.org to correct, update or delete, by identifying himself precisely with a copy of an identity document (identity card or passport).

Requests for the deletion of personal data will be subject to the obligations imposed on wheatinitiative.org by law, particularly with regard to the preservation or archiving of documents. Finally, the users of wheatinitiative.org can file a complaint with the supervisory authorities, and in particular the CNIL (https://www.cnil.fr/fr/plaintes).

Non-communication of personal data

wheatinitiative.org is prohibited to process, host or transfer the information collected on its users to a country located outside the European Union or recognized as "unsuitable" by the European Commission without informing the user first. However, wheatinitiative.org has the right of a free choice of its technical and commercial subcontractors on the condition that they present sufficient guarantees with regard to the requirements of the General Regulation on Data Protection (RGPD: No. 2016-679).

If an incident affecting the integrity or confidentiality of the user information is brought to the attention of wheatinitiative.org, it shall promptly inform the user and notify him of the corrective measures taken. In addition, wheatinitiative.org does not collect any "sensitive data".

No personal information of the Wheat Initiative website user of wheatinitiative.org is published without the knowledge of the user, exchanged, transferred, assigned or sold on any support to third parties.

Data Security

Whatever efforts are made, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee an absolute security, but we do our best to keep all data safe. If we become aware of a security breach, we will notify the affected users so that they can take appropriate action. Our incident reporting procedures take into account our legal obligations, whether at the national or European level. We are committed to fully informing our users of all matters relating to the security of their account and providing them with all the information they need to help them meet their own regulatory reporting requirements. When processing personal data, wheatinitiative.org takes all reasonable steps to protect against any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.
