THE STRATEGIC RESEARCH AGENDA 2022

The Wheat Initiative has updated its Strategic Research Agenda and launched it on July 5th 2022. The Wheat Initiative is presenting the Strategic Research Agenda that highlights the current global wheat research challenges and potential scientific solutions. The Agenda resulted from the combined efforts of leading wheat researchers, government and industry representatives to identify the best options to advance food security and provide safe and nutritious wheat.

In addition to providing a vison for the future, the Agenda looks back to what has already been achieved since the previous Agenda was launched in 2015. Wheat production around the world faces numerous challenges, in particular through the impact of an increasing variable climate, and political conflict. Addressing these challenges requires input from the research community to deliver continuous innovation and keep wheat production at a level where it can meet global demand. With the launch of the Strategic Research Agenda the Wheat Initiative targets its mission to increase food security, wheat nutritional value and safety while taking into account societal demands for sustainable and resilient agricultural production systems.
