WHEAT PHENOTYPING TO SUPPORT WHEAT IMPROVEMENT
The Expert Working Group on Wheat Phenotyping aims to reduce the gap between genomics and phenomics for wheat improvement by supporting and strengthening research initiatives, as well as by developing new technologies focused on wheat phenotyping on an international scale.
It will promote collaborations and exchange of expertise in wheat phenotyping, enhance the integration of phenotyping into breeding and genomics programs, engage experts from non-plant disciplines in wheat phenotyping and support training and capacity building.
Proposal
The proposal to establish an Expert Working Group was submitted by Bettina Berger (University of Adelaide, Australia), Robert Furbank (CSIRO Plant Industry Canberra, Australia), Mark Tester (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Uli Schurr (IBG-2 Forschungszentrum Juelich, Germany), Boris Parent (INRA, France), Martin Parry (Rothamsted Research, UK), Matthew Reynolds (CIMMYT, Mexico), Jesse Poland (USDA-ARS, USA), and endorsed by the Wheat Initiative Research Committee at their 2nd meeting on September 14, 2013.

Co-Chair: Michela JANNI
Call for Experts
The call for experts will remain open during the EWG lifetime. Any expert wishing to participate in the Wheat Phenotyping to Support Wheat Improvement Expert Working Group should complete the application form and send via email to wheat(dot)initiative(at)julius-kuehn(dot)de.
International Collaborations
The EWG works closely with the EWGs Adaptation of Wheat to Abiotic Stress and the Wheat Information System on training provision and is linked to the global phenotyping community via the International Plant Phenotyping Network.
