Program Objectives
The objectives of this meeting are: 1) to provide an update on pathogen variation, host resistance, and molecular biology for the three rust diseases of wheat; 2) explore ideas for durable resistance, gene deployment, and gene stewardship; and 3) provide an opportunity, especially for early career scientists, to present their research in Flash Talks.
Registration
The symposium will be open to all and is free. Although the symposium is sponsored by the Hard Winter Wheat Improvement Committee, everybody from every class of wheat is welcome to attend and submit an abstract about their rust work. Registration will be required to get a head count and facilitate the Zoom sessions. Please register in advance for this meeting at this Zoom link:

Invited Speakers
The list of invited speakers includes Erick DeWolf, Xianming Chen, Kim Garland-Campbell, Jim Kolmer, John Fellers, Amir Ibrahim, Yue Jin, Dave Marshall, Les Szabo, Allan Fritz, and Mary Guttieri.
Flash Talks
Flash Talk presenters will have five minutes to present up to five PowerPoint slides that explain research problems, objectives, results or expected outcomes. Try to explain the research in a way such that any listener can understand it in a short period of time. Authors of some abstracts may be invited to give a longer format talk. At the conclusion of each round of Flash Talks during each session, a 15-minute Q&A session will follow that will allow viewers the opportunity to interact with each presenter.
Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts will be required from all presenters. Abstracts will have a 250-word limit to describe the presentation. Tables and Figures are not to be included in the Abstract. Abstracts are due by March 15th, 2021. Please email your abstracts to Jeffrey D. Boehm, Jr. (jeffrey.boehm@USDA.gov). PowerPoint slides for Flash Talks should be sent to the same address at least one week prior to the meeting.
